Happy Friday/Online Marketing and Media show…

Friday, June 20th, 2008

My name is David and I am a blogaphobic…

There I said it. It feels better already!

Anyway as I have been with ambergreen for nearly 3 years I thought it was about time that I got some of my musings out of my head and onto the ambergreen blog* as we have been so busy lately that we have neglected the poor thing.

So from now on I’m going to do my best to pay it a bit more attention, TLC and maybe even send it flowers or take it to the movies occasionally, it deserves it after all.

Today I thought I’d talk a little about some of the highlights of my upcoming week. We have so much on at the moment however I will do my best not to bore you too much! Monday see’s myself and newbie Ali venturing to Manchester (one of my favourite Cities) to see a new potential client, one which we are very excited about. We’ll hopefully get an agreement to start working with them ASAP.

I’m back up the road on Monday night only to be up for a red eye into Stansted on Tuesday for the Online Marketing and Media show, it’s “my opportunity to understand, discover and learn how to integrate online marketing and media into my strategy to achieve the perfect solution”. Well apparently…

It’s going to be a full day as I’ve signed up for 5 seminars including Widgets/Web Apps and Social Gaffes. Expect a review of the show later in the week if I get 10 minutes spare.

Well that’s about all we have time for folks, have a great weekend, weather permitting we’ll be barbecuing, if you are also I recommend Vampire Weekend as a soundtrack.

Hopefully see you all back here for an update on the Online Marketing and Media show…

Happy Friday!

*(After reading this maybe it wasn’t the best idea after all)

Web 2.0 set to go Mobile

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Mobile phones are set to deliver a new stream of advertising and interaction for the Web 2.0 generation as social networking moves from PCs to portable handsets.

That is the prediction of analysts at Frost & Sullivan who believe that social networking will prove a big hit with phone users, those with PDAs and other mobile technology – as well as with advertisers.

Predicting that total revenues ‘on-deck mobile social networking services’ will reach $412 million in the US alone, Frost & Sullivan is anticipating a shift in the way Web 2.0 reaches consumers.

Senior analyst Vikrant Gandhi said that there would be key differences to traditional Web 2.0 functions – because of the functionality offered by a phone in comparison to a PC – but said mobile social networking services targeted toward mass-market phones could have a significant impact on revenues.

With the opportunities of monetisation considered huge – thanks to the popularity of social networking and the potential advertising streams – sites such as Facebook and MySpace are expected to become increasingly accessible for mobile users.

Facebook, which began as a site for alumni at Harvard University, has since gone on to attract more than 70 million members.
