Flickr’s All Grown Up
March 6th, 2007 by pamela
Where does the time go? As of Saturday 3rd March, Flickr is three years old. When half of the internet using population is still getting to grips with Web 2.0, one of its pioneers has been through growing pains to become part of Yahoo’s drive to promote social communities.
Launched in 2004 Flickr was the brain child of the Canadian development company Ludicorp, which was snapped up by Yahoo! in 2004, placing the site at the centre of Yahoo’s Google-beating social networking drive.
The site now has 23 million unique visitors per month, sharing photos with friends, family and other Flickr users. With users having posted over 400 million photographs on the site, the reach of the site is phenomenal and seems set to continue growing.
