Panama a Hit for Advertisers

February 27th, 2007 by pamela

According to new information from comScore, click through rates have improved on the yahoo! network since the introduction of the Yahoo Search Marketing Panama system.

Click through rose from 10.1% to 11.1% in the two weeks following launch.

comScore data indicted that the number of users who clicked on ads rose by 5% in the first week and 9% in the second, based on the online behavior of comScore’s U.S. sample of 1 million Internet users. In real life this equates to millions of dollars, giving Yahoo a huge opportunity to monetize it’s search offering further and increase their revenue.

The new system sees Yahoo move from a bid price ranking model to a system which takes bid, ad quality and other factors into account when determining where ads are ranked on results pages.
