Over the past ten years, Freak Music has been offering music and event management throughout Scotland. Through the site at http://www.freakmusic.co.uk private and corporate clients are able to view the myriad of bands, singers and DJs available and book via their enquiry service.

Over the past ten years, Freak Music has been offering music and event management throughout Scotland. Through the site at http://www.freakmusic.co.uk private and corporate clients are able to view the myriad of bands, singers and DJs available and book via their enquiry service.

Some of the clients within Freak Music's extensive client list include Boots, Harvey Nicols, British Gas, Prudential, Royal Navy, RBS and The Edinburgh Fringe.

In early July 2009, Freak Music enhanced the website improving the overall look and feel as well as improving the functionality and user journey. Ambergreen were brought onboard shortly after the launch of the new site in order to raise awareness of the offering online and drive additional traffic to the site. Ambergreen were able to provide a scalable solution that would suit not only this ambitious and successful Scotland based client, but also Ambergreen's catalogue of International blue chip clients.

The Challenge

The main goal of the campaign was to drive new visitors to the site and highlight the added benefits of the site and Freak Music’s service. One of the challenges was ensuring that any online PR was not lost in the noise of other music and band related news during the Edinburgh Festival, Edinburgh's busiest time of the year.

The Solution

Ambergreen employed journalists to create a series of news pieces covering the launch of the new site and the obvious benefits of booking private and corporate entertainment through Freak Music's online service. The content Ambergreen created incorporated search terms and contextual links that would give the added benefit of passing on value to the site from a search engine optimisation point of view.

In addition, Ambergreen also contacted a number of music and event directories within Scotland in order to get contextual links pointing to the Freak Music site.

The Results

As a result of the online PR and link acquisition activity, over 400 news and blog sites picked up the press releases. These channels prompted over 2,000 views and an increase of traffic to the site.

By creating content relating to Freak Music's key offering in wedding bands, the site enjoyed a month on month increase in search engine positions for "Wedding Band" related search terms which had the knock on effect of increasing traffic by 65.64% year on year. Bookings also increased by 21% YOY.
