Q4 is 'party season' for online marketers

Tue, 11/18/2008 - 21:05

Online marketers can take advantage of the upcoming Christmas season to boost their search marketing campaigns, a blogger has suggested.Writing for Search Engine Journal, Dev Basu suggested that the final quarter of the year is a "party season" for online marketers - with those who have developed dedicated holiday search campaigns benefiting most.Furthermore, he asserted it is not too late to set up a Christmas-specific search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign if marketers have not already done so.Mr Basu suggested that shopping carts can be optimised for SEO by avoiding duplicate content or multiple session IDs.Pay-per-click marketing can be used to its greatest advantage by targeting local customers in the days before Christmas when people are no longer looking for items that need to be shipped, he said. Finally, Mr Basu explained that all holiday email campaigns should encourage customers to write product reviews and that LBL titles can be changed to reflect holiday-specific shopping keywords, such as "Christmas gifts".The Guardian reported today (November 18th) that Nick Robertson of internet retailer Asos is expecting online fashion sales to double within the next couple of years. He added that with Christmas approaching, current bestsellers on the site include high-shine leggings, lace and prom dresses.
